Kelvin Brown, known in music circles as Kelvyn Boy was born on 1st April, 1991 in Akim Fosu to Mr. Solomon Yeboah and Madam Adwoa.
He had his secondary education at Osei Tutu Senior High School in Kumasi.
He’s a father of two beautiful children; Blessing and Believe, a seventh day Adventist and for now it’s clearly obvious to many that he’s single as he hasn’t disclose his relationship to the public.
He begun his career when he started singing in church, he was a member of the church choir at a tender age. He was the leader of a band called Soul Nice Band which performs at parties, weddings, funerals etc. His determination and hard work caught the eye of a music label called FK records which signed him onto their label.
It was during one of his routine performance on a To station that he caught the eye of arguably, the best dancehall artiste in Africa’s; Stonebwoy who later signed him to his label: Burniton Music Group(BMG).
With a lot of talent embedded in him already, his great level of confidence and being under the leadership of a music giant, Kelvyn Boy was ready for the big stage.
Kelvyn Boy released Pray, a call to prayer and an early motivation tune for fans. The song received massive air play in the country. Then a reggae tune followed; No War. It’s of good course to note that all these songs were doing well but honestly, didn’t propel him into the limelight as expected.
He featured his label Huncho; Stonebwoy on a smooth jam titled Na You. The stone to fame starting rolling. Na You received massive air play on radio and TV stations.
After the successful release of Na You, many people were expecting to see what was next coming from this little music genius and an even better and stronger proof that the name Kelvyn Boy was here to stay.
Lo and Behold, he featured one of the best rappers in Ghana; Medikal on another masterpiece: Toffee.
After two great releases, it was that Kelvyn Boy was truly here to stay. He was featured on his label leader’s EOM album and the Highest Album by the best rapper in Africa: Sarkodie. Brown proved he’s really here to stay by releasing Hustle, Coffee, Afrobeat, Ginger etc and got featured on many great songs with prominent artiste in Ghana.
Somewhere around June in 2019,Kelvyn Boy released his first EP; The Inspirational Moment Ever(TIME EP).The Ep was packed with 8 songs; On Your Door, My Story, Anything Ft Kidi,Loko ft Medikal, My Woman ft Damaris, Catch A Vibe ft Stonebwoy and the giant; Mea ft Joey B.
All the songs on the Ep were catchy and irresistible.
The Song ‘Mea’ was one of the best songs to hit the nation in the year 2019.
‘Mea’ topped all music charts in Ghana for more than 4 months. Kelvyn Boy wanted to storm the world. The Afrobeat World Tour was launched. Trips to Belgium, Australia, Italy, Holland and Germany was on the cards.
He also performed at the Bomboclat Festival, one of the world’s biggest reggae festival’s in the world.
When everything was going on smoothly on the front page at BMG, at the back page it became clear that Kelvyn Boy’s contract with the label had expired and had overstayed for an additional 6 months….
Due to Contract extension lapses and other controversies which are still not clear even till now, he left BMG together with his former leader’s manager to join the Blakk Arm Group.
Kelvyn Boy said recently that “People thought I was going to fail after I left BMG and Stonebwoy, but God has been good”.
He released his first single under Blakk Arm Group titled Yawa No Dey which features one of the best rappers in Ghana and Africa, M.anifest. The song was touted as a diss song to his former boss, which was never true.
The song like any other of his songs became an instant hit in the country.
Great Talent, Great Lyrics!
After Yawa No Dey, New Year followed.
Its clear that the his departure from BMG has not affected his career in any negative way as all his songs under his new label are all doing well.
The third single away from BMG and under BAG is titled “Momo”(Mobile Money) which features the legend, Mugeez and DarkoVibes.
Great music accompanied with a classical video is receiving massive streams, air plays and a plethora of views on YouTube.
It’s clear that his works are not going unnoticed, with several awards to his name….
