Ghana’s Commonwealth Games High Jump Athlete, Abigail Kwarteng, has cautioned Ghanaians to lower expectations towards winning medals in the ongoing 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.
Miss Kwarteng, believes zero investment towards Ghanaian athletes representing the country in ongoing games will hence produce no medal show in various categories.
“You don’t expect from where you don’t invest, right?”, quizzed Abigail.
“Not even just from me, I think Ghanaians shouldn’t expects much from anybody they did not invest in, period”.
“If everything was good and I was able to continue how my training went, the went season, I’d have enough time to rest, enough time to be practicing as long as I could.
I could easily stand here and tell you I am very confident that things are going to be great”, she stated.
“However, knowing very much that there’s something that I’ve to work and learn to 12hrs a day and then spend about 3-4hrs trying to sleep and then I have to practicing in between, I’m going to go out and do my best because of course, our coach is really trying and that is what I can say”, she lamented further.
“I can’t say this is what is going to happen but I’m very optimistic”.
“However, we are going to go out there and do whatever we could because we love the sports and that is what we’re here for.
So we’re going to go out there and give our 100%. The prayers is that our 100% is enough”, she concluded.
Ghana is yet to pick a medal from the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
